Piano Tuning and Rebuilding

Piano Tuning and Rebuilding

One of the longest projects I have undertaken is learning to fix and tune my piano that I inherited in 2011. The previous owner just had it for show in her house. She said either I take it or it will get an axe through it. With the help of Ramel, who also is an awesome contractor who redid my co-op apartment.

I had saved this 1930's Otto Altenburg piano from many attacks from the elements: replacing keytops, water damage, refinishing the inside and outside wood parts, servicing the action inside, restringing corroded wires. I have dragged my father into this project and we absolutely love this piano as a member of the Martinez family.

In the picture you will see my high school music award, a piece of a Steinway soundboard, and a picture of my adorable nephew.
